Early understanding of objects
Infants are immersed in a dynamic world where objects constantly change where they are and how they look. I’m interested in exploring how infants represent objects and these representations to learn about the world. Specifically, I'm interested in:
1) How are object representations constructed?
2) How do various cognitive processes shape object representations across development?
3) What is the role of object representations in higher-level cognition?

Development of Working Memory in early childhood
Infants’ working memory develops rapidly in the first few years and is critical to their later academic achievement. I employ behavioral tasks including eye-tracking technique and pupillometric measurements to understand the following questions:
1) How do Working Memory and Attention interacts to influence young learners' cognitive processes?
2) How do different components of Working Memory (i.e., storage vs. manipulation) underlies different cognitive activities?

Numerical computations in infants and children
Recent research has found that preschoolers can solve unknown addend problems in Approximate Number System (ANS) when presented with sets of objects. I'm interested in understanding:
1) How precise are ANS computations in children?
2) Exploring the sources of individual differences in ANS computations in children.
3) What are the limits of numerical computations in infants?

Social cognitive development across cultures and over development
I collaborate with researchers across the world to understand how people from different backgrounds and cultures regulate their emotions and the corresponding influence to their daily activities. (See Publications).
